The natural landscape is the subject of my paintings, my “artist’s model,” muse and teacher. I usually paint outdoors, en plein air, in sites throughout Marin—Pt. Reyes peninsula, Mt. Burdell, a Marinwood knoll, Secret Mountain, Smith Ranch Pond, Marin Headlands, to name a few. When the weather is inclement, I retreat to my studio to practice my craft. The results can range from small monochrome value studies to, recently, a mural-size portrait of a dormant Canyon oak. I look forward to seeing you at Open Studios this year and the opportunity to share my appreciation of nature and my response to its mystery and beauty.
