Programs

The scope of MAC programs and services ranges from grants to artists and organizations, information and referral for the general public, focused one-on-one projects with targeted youth and families, to local exhibits, events, and major civic celebrations. They include:

  • Marin Arts Council Open Studios, an annual two week-end event in May when Marin artists open their studios to over 15,000 public visitors;
  • Marin Arts Council Fund for Artists Grants totaling over $200,000 annually, encouraging the creation of new work and community art projects.
  • Teamworks Mentoring and Apprenticeship Program, providing the only weekly art classes for at-risk youth in Juvenile Hall and the County Community School and mentoring/apprenticeship and employment rewards for those demonstrating positive behavioral changes.
  • Exhibits showcasing work by hundreds of Marin artists throughout the year are a major part of our public programming and events that also include recognition and awards for local artists and arts organizations and community receptions.
  • Marin County Fair showcasing Marin artists and organizations in performances and activities on ARTSDAY and International Day
  • Opportunities, a bi-monthly publication listing opportunities from throughout the state and the nation for artists in all media;
  • Information and Referral – responding to hundreds of calls and written requests per year for information about the arts in Marin and the Bay Area.
