Teamworks

The Marin Arts Council's Teamworks program brings arts education, mentoring, and apprenticeship opportunities to local at-risk teens. The program promotes positive behaviors and constructive activities for its youth, as well as employment and apprenticeship opportunities for artists and teens. It provides an environment for students to express their uniqueness and cultural richness—a valuable contribution to assure our community's vitality and well-being today, and for the future.

Weekly Art Classes
Teamworks provides some of the only weekly art classes available at Marin County's alternative high schools and Juvenile Hall. The Marin Arts Council recruits and pays all artist teachers and their assistants.

Mentoring & Apprenticeship
This program identifies youth who show commitment to their work and artistic talent, and rewards them with one-on-one time with an artist/mentor. In addition to studio time, this may include museum visits, collection trips for recycled materials, experience in hanging shows, and help putting together a portfolio.

Employment Opportunities and Local Festivals
The students have opportunities to participate as paid assistants or volunteers in community projects and festivals supported by the Arts Council such as the Day of the Dead Celebration, the Marin County Fair, and the Italian Street Painting Festival.

The Marin Arts Council would like to thank the following donors for their generous contribution to the Teamworks program:
