Emerging Artists: New talent with important stories to tell
Opening Reception: Sep. 2, 5-7 pm
Marin Museum of Contemporary Art kicks off the Fall exhibition season with “2017 Emerging Artists of Northern California,” opening September 2, 2017.
On view will be work by five artists: Shannon Abac, Andrea Bergen, Aida Lizalde, Philip McGaughy and Katie Revilla. “Visitors will see an incredibly talented, diverse exhibit by artists who create powerful, refined imagery with important stories to tell.” says juror Virginia Tominia, Managing Director of the Chandra Cerrito Contemporary Gallery. The exhibition features 2-D, 3-D, and installation art, and delves into a variety of themes, from the degradation of our environment to the immigrant experience.
The show is free to the public and runs from September 2 through October 8 with an opening reception on Saturday, Sep. 2 from 5 pm to 7 pm.
About the juror: Chandra Cerrito Contemporary Gallery was established in Oakland in 2007 as a curatorial project space. The gallery features exhibitions and site-specific installations that highlight exceptional regional and national artists.
