Olivier Desmet

Belgian photographer Olivier Desmet hopes to convey the notion of Mono no Aware (a Japanese concept used to describe the beautiful transience of all things) through his black & white urban and landscape images. He recently released his 2nd book “TSUKIJI”, a photographic essay on Tokyo’s famed market and neighborhood, and is currently working on “Marine Layer”, a monograph of meditative images of the San Francisco Bay Area. Olivier’s photography has been published in the Financial Times, Conde Nast Traveler, Metropolis Japan, Tokyo Weekender Magazine, The Michelin Guide, and the acclaimed literary quarterly The Southern Review.
