Sara Nesson

I am an artist, writer, and performer with a lifelong passion for all things creative. To get lost in ink or clay, words or music—this is sacred to me, and I rely on this force in my life.

As a Bay Area playwright and actor I have performed in collaborative theater productions such as On the Seventh Day with A Traveling Jewish Theatre and Sides of a Wall: A German-Jewish Story. My solo work, The Broken Mishkan, is touring to communities around the country. My creative projects have received funding from Interfaith America, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, and Alliance for Jewish Theatre.

I have led Taizé candlelight services in churches, taught storytelling workshops at seminaries and hospitals, mentored Jewish teenagers, and traversed the United States as a travel writer. I am a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Harvard College, and the Graduate Theological Union.

These days I live on a peaceful hillside in northern California with my husband and two high-personality cats. I listen for owls and coyotes at night, and I try to stay open.
