San Geronimo Valley Community Center Presents: Valley Arts & Lectures Series: A West Marin Poetry Reading

Valley Arts & Lectures Series Presents: A West Marin Poetry Reading

* Sunday, April 2, 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm

April is National Poetry Month! As part of our Valley Arts and Lectures Series, the Community Center is proud to present A West Marin Poetry Reading in The Valley Room.

Valley local Muniera Kadrie is curating this free afternoon poetry event featuring three local poets: Mary Winegarden, Jim Gronvold and Norah Holmgren.

Mary Winegarden

Mary’s awards include an American Book Award for her first poetry collection, The Translator’s Sister, and the Stafford Poetry Award. Recent poems have appeared the Community of Writers Poetry Review, Rosebud, Catamaran, West Marin Review, Naugatuck River Review, parenthesis and the anthology FOG AND LIGHT: San Francisco through the Eyes of the Poets Who Live Here. A former lecturer at San Francisco State for many years, she is an activist-poet and besotted grandmother.  She now lives in Inverness Park with her husband, Geoff Hoyle, who still makes her laugh.

Jim Gronvold

Jim started writing verse when he was ten years old, and he has published eight collections of his poems.  He likes to write concise pieces, using rhyme and meter, and attributes the length of his poems to the three by five inch index cards that he started using when he was ten. He has made Marin his home after retiring from the Pine Street Inn, homeless programs in Boston, where he had been a counselor and an administrator at the largest private provider of homeless services in New England.

Norah Holmgren

Norah is a new resident of Forest Knolls.  She has had a varied writing career in which she has written plays, short fiction, essays, reports, and nonfiction books. Poetry, however, has always been her first love.
