Lobby Exhibit:  Anna Skacel – Eclectic Moments of  Life 

The subject matter of my work varies greatly. I enjoy the diversity of it all, and most often, draw my inspiration from my travels, be it some quirky encounter or scene along the way. It can range from crusty old cowboys in Arizona to young school girls posing in their classroom , “gangsta style”, in Haiti.

I am interested in all the aspects of daily life, colors, patterns or textures of a scene. It could also be an expression on a face, or a feeling of amusement or nostalgia that makes me decide to paint it. Each scene that I draw tends to have its own story.

Most of my work is made up of many layers, and as with life, takes time to complete. I work in a variety of mediums. Colored pencils are my favorite and what I use the most, though I also enjoy using water-color, pastels and scratchboard.
