To accompany the exhibition “Art We Wear: Culture and Expression from 1960s to Now,” artisan and designer Jean Cacicedo will share stories and her work in the gallery this Saturday!
Jean Cacicedo is a leading artisan in the national art-to-wear movement born of the counter-culture of the 1970’s. Jean’s masterful original works combining experimental techniques, may be found in museum collections worldwide and published in definitive books on art-to-wear movement. Jean, along with colleague Ana Lisa Hedstrom, recently compiled the digital “Obiko Archive” for the Textile Arts Council of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco—-an archive that spans the work and careers of many Bay Area artisans. For this gallery talk, Jean will share stories from her wealth of experience as well as examples of her work.
