Juror’s Statement:
It’s rare that we are presented with an opportunity to explore the meaning of a singular word. At the outset of jurying this exhibition—a voyage in its own right—I suspected I would be drawn to more literal interpretations of the theme but, to my delight, I was immersed in a realm of creativity that approached Voyage from every possible angle using varied media and skilled techniques.

Some of the artists in this exhibition chose to convey trips and vacations to stunning locations while others turned inward and traveled to mystical dream worlds and through portals to other dimensions. Several artists turned to current events focusing on complicated pandemic journeys, climate change and the heartbreaking voyages of those forced to flee their homelands. I also discovered humorous works, chronicling life on public transit.

What I found to be so remarkable was the boundless curiosity and creative spirit represented in each work. I hope you have an equally exciting experience as you wander through Voyage.
