O’Hanlon Center for the Arts invites you to submit work for our A New Perspective  juried by Dr. Orin Carpenter

We are starting 2023 off with A New Perspective show! During Covid lockdown many artists found different ways of working using new and different materials, techniques, and ideas.

For this exhibition we are asking artists to submit that new work, created since 2020, which reflects those new discoveries. We want to look at what you are excited about and most interested in! We very much look forward to seeing your new approach to making art.

Contemporary, expressionistic, abstract, exploratory, and/or experimental entries encouraged.
Media: All Media, including 3D/Sculptural works

About the Juror: Dr Orin Carpenter

“When approaching the creation of my art, the process is the most fulfilling component for me. Using mixed media allows an incredible marriage between materials used building into one union. My experiences living as an African American Man is where my inspiration stems from in creating the images that eventually come to fruition for all to see.”

Dr. Carpenter found a new perspective and created a new series Quarantine State of Mind in response to COVID-19. “My world, like everyone else’s, came to an abrupt change of direction due to how we had to evolve as a planet. These pieces symbolize what I was feeling during that time, as well as the world’s reaction to things. Even though there was a lot of disparity during this pandemic, it made us all get a new “perspective.” That perspective is to remember what is really important in our lives.”

O’Hanlon Center for the Arts emphasizes the creative process and the continued pursuit of meaning and authenticity through observation, exploration, and experimentation.
