Celebrating Watercolor in Sausalito, an exhibit featuring paintings by three Sausalito artists who are members of the Marin County Watercolor Society will open at the Sausalito Library on February 16.
That evening from 5:00 to 6:30, the artists, Pat Lawrence, Dianne Johnson and Barbara Nelson will welcome viewers at a public reception.
From landscapes to still life and abstract to realism, the presentation showcases the breadth and range of these local artists who have mastered the medium. The show will hang in the library until March 29.
Member artists’ paintings owned by the city of Sausalito include those by Ben Farnham, Audrey Hubbard, Jerry Stitt, Catherine Anderson and Ruth Alexander, the Sausalito resident who started the Watercolor Society in 1970.
This exhibit is one of several in libraries throughout the county in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Marin County Watercolor Society, a resource for both new and experienced artists who work in watercolor, offering opportunities to paint plein air, exhibit in group shows, to share ideas and to learn.
