Ruby Living presents the artwork of Michael Shemchuk & Sara Post in Chroma a mixed media art exhibition.

Michael Shemchuk
Chroma began as a notion, but really it started with a feeling. In 2019 I was traveling in Mexico City and came upon a used and weathered paperback book (see image below) in a stack of old used books.

The simple graphics, color and layout of the book cover stirred something visual in me. I bought the book for a few pesos and lived with it in my studio for months. Eventually, an idea formulated and I began Chroma as a mixed media project on panel. Below are Chroma variations created from 2019 – Present.

Sara Post
My current paintings and drawings are based in a series of events created by weather, light and space and the effects of lingering over small changes. This work is necessarily abstract–layered and non linear. Subtle shifts in light and color, varying textures, shapes hidden, revealed and drawn surface lines combine to create a sense of dynamic space–a reflection of the generous and sometimes disturbing natural world.
