31st annual celebration of Day of the Dead — Dia de los Muertos at Al Boro Community Center
Day of the Dead — Dia de los Muertos San Rafael will celebrate its 31st anniversary on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at the Albert J. Boro Community Center from 3:00 to 9:00pm.
We hope you will join us in sharing this tradition.
In the weeks leading up to the Día de los Muertos celebration this year, local artists and community members will create ofrendas (altars) to honor the spirits and lives of loved ones who have passed, whether they be ancestors or important historical figures.
These altars, which will be displayed at Al Boro Community Center, serve as an invitation to those who have passed to visit on Día de los Muertos.
Children and adults alike will have the opportunity to view and create altars through workshops and school group visits.
On the day of the festival, the traditional procession will pass through the Canal neighborhood.
The Community Center will be packed with hundreds of visitors and we will offer live music by local artists, storytelling, face painting, and craft projects, all at no charge.
Visitors will be able to decorate sugar skulls, create papel picado decorations, and sample traditional foods.
