Dead Funk Summit
An All-Star Super Jam combing the musical worlds of the Grateful Dead and New Orleans Funk!
Melvin is best known for his long friendship and musical partnership with cultural icon and guitarist Jerry Garcia and the smile of his that lights up the room. Melvin spun his B-3 magic with the Jerry Garcia Band for 18 years and in doing so helped pioneer and define what has now become “Jam Band Music”.
Dumpstaphunk stands out among New Orleans’ best as one of the funkiest bands to ever arise from the Crescent City. In Big Easy tradition, dueling bass lines from Tony Hall and Nick Daniels III set off one of the dirtiest rhythm sections on the planet, while Ivan Neville lights up the Hammond B3 keys and cousin Ian Neville’s funky guitar riffs send the groove into overdrive.
Soulive is a funk/jazz trio that originated in Woodstock, New York, and is known for its solos and catchy, upbeat songs. The band consists of Eric Krasno (guitar), Alan Evans (drums) and Neal Evans (Hammond B3 organ, bass keys, clavinet). Alan and Neal had been the rhythm section for the Northeastern jam band Moon Boot Lover. After a brief foray into rap, the brothers looked to form a traditional jazz organ trio. In 1999 Alan and Neal invited guitarist Eric Krasno (a friend they knew from high school days) to record some jazz/funk tracks with them in their home studio, and have been touring nationally and overseas ever since.
Joe Marcinek Band is an experience you will never forget. That is because each show features a different lineup of musicians creating a different set of music every night. The music is equal parts Chicago Blues, New Orleans Funk, Grateful Dead Psychedelia, and Jazz Fusion!
