Lucky Dog Theatre performs Full Spectrum Improvisation
Directed by Joya Cory
The veteran actors/improvisers in Lucky Dog perform spontaneous, physical theatre pieces and improvised songs, ranging from the fiercely comic to the surprisingly personal to the poignantly political. Beyond comedy “Improv,” Lucky Dog Theatre creates Improvisational Theatre of authenticity and substance.
Joya Cory has been performing since 1971. She is the creator of numerous original theatre pieces, acts, directs & teaches in a wide variety of venues and has taught Full Spectrum Improvisation (a form she developed) to all kinds of folks, including actors, non-actors, therapists, teachers & public speakers. Her work has been recognized with grants from the California Arts Council, in addition to other grants and awards.
Joya created her solo pieces My Father’s Chair, Irma at the Movies, Bile, Anniversary Waltz, & The Dalai Lama Doesn’t Need a Face Lift through an experimental process based on improvisational story telling to generate material and writing and acting technique to develop a well crafted, scripted piece. She is a dedicated and innovative teacher.
