Geraldine LiaBraaten: Real / Abstract, Many people look at Geraldine Lia Braaten’s work and wonder, “What the heck IS this?” and that’s exactly what she wants. In “Real/Abstract,” she moves in close to her subject, framing the image in an unexpected way to make the viewer think about what they see, considering it alone before recognizing its context.
Betty Woolfolk: The Museum of Curious Thought, A Memorial Retrospective Woolfolk’s assemblage sculptures combine a wide variety of materials that make witty and magical comments on different branches of science. Betty Woolfolk, was a founding member and the Executive Director of the organization.
Andrew Romanoff and his friends in Shrinky Dink and Beyond! Andrew Romanoff’s paintings are small, witty icons influenced by his impressions both of his Russian heritage and items he finds in newspapers and on the Internet. Painted on clear plastic known as “Shrinky Dink” and often accompanied by written narratives, these images range widely in subject matter.
