Sherry Williamson AIA, IIDA is a classically trained architect specializing in residential interiors, custom furniture and lighting design. She received a M. Arch. from Yale and a BA in Architecture and French from Washington University. She studied architecture and interior design, esquisse en plein air, figure drawing and engraving at the Ecole d’Architecture, a beaux arts school in Strasbourg, France.
Leslie Laskey, an artist and protégé of American Bauhaus pioneer Laszlo Moholy-Nagy, along with James Fitzgibbon, a colleague of Buckminster Fuller, were influential design studio professors. Williamson has studied the Classical Orders, taken figure drawing classes at the Fleischer Art Memorial in Philadelphia and 23rd Street Studio in San Francisco, woodworking classes in Mill Valley and printmaking at a Crown Point Press workshop in San Francisco.
Williamson’s work includes sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, mixed media collages and watercolor landscapes. Her award-winning interiors and lighting designs are nationally recognized, and her measured ink wash drawings of early 20th c. stone and iron facades are in the collection of the National Building Arts Center in Sauget, Illinois.
Williamson worked with Robert Venturi of VRSB Architects near Philadelphia and Joe Esherick of EHDD in San Francisco, before establishing her art and design practice in Mill Valley, CA.
