Intermediate Wax Encaustics Workshop

This is one of Margot Hartford’s more advanced encaustic workshops, designed as a companion to the beginner Intro to Wax Encaustics class.

Students will be given a quick review of the basics of encaustic painting, after which they will have time to explore and practice various advanced encaustic art techniques. The workshop will cover layering, adding texture, masking, inscribing, and collage. Margot will also demonstrate how the application of oil sticks and pastels can help augment the students’ use of the encaustic medium.

Encaustic wax and all other encaustic supplies will be provided. Students are encouraged to bring their own additional materials to incorporate into their encaustic wax art.

Participants will be supplied with two 5×7-inch or 6×6-inch wood panels to work on during this beginning encaustics class and will take home at least two completed works of encaustic art.

Margot will have additional panels for sale at $12 apiece, should students desire more materials to work on as they perfect the encaustic technique.
