Learn how to create your own Encaustic pieces with Margot Hartford
This hands-on one-day encaustics workshop is a great introduction if you have never worked with wax and the art of encaustics before.
The workshop will examine approaches to using photographs, magazine tears, tissue papers, and other objects that can be embedded into the wax.
We will address heating, fusing, and manipulating wax, as well as discuss colors, brushes, and where to find materials.
Margot Hartford is a San Francisco Bay Area lifestyle photographer who specializes in photographing families, children, and fitness for commercial clients. While serving as a docent at SF MOMA, she discovered encaustic painting through the work of Jasper Johns. She created a small studio in her home to experiment with using wax to produce small pieces of art incorporating her photography.
