The MVAC’s Virtual ArtWalk for October with three new exhibits!

Exhibition Dates:  October 1 – 31

Our Virtual ArtWalk for October 2020 features Artists Kira Herzog and Karen Meadows as well as the Mill Valley Arts Commission’s Knitting Us Together exhibit.

Featured Artists Kira Herzog and Karen Meadows were originally scheduled to have in-person exhibitions during October 2020 at City of Mill Valley locations. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have created a virtual environment to display their art.  (See galleries for artist contact information.)

Kira Herzog is a photographer and writer based in Mill Valley, California. She works with film and digital mediums to explore symmetry, form, and beauty through unexpected subjects. Her most recent series features soft colors and stark, industrial landscapes.

Karen Meadows:

How did I become obsessed with painting florals? During a period of feeling somewhat paralyzed by the events of the world, my focus turned to tending my garden. Everyone was staying home. I nurtured many beautiful flowers and sat under a red umbrella contemplating my next creative move. After the death of a colleague due to Covid, I simply had to paint flowers.

My process is to layer, sand, and bring images to life through a process of adding and removing, using old wallpaper, scraps of paper, paint and markers. Each one is unique with a life of its own. Being surrounded by brightly colored flowers on my studio wall gave me an immense sense of happiness and joy. I hope to share this joy with all who visit my art.
