Online panel discussion by Indigenous Leaders & Advocates on land acknowledgement
Thursday, November 18, 6:00 pm
This amazing event is free and open to the public.
It is an opportunity to hear local Native leaders share about important topics like land acknowledgements, the Land Back movement and how to support local Indigenous communities.
Please share with your community and join us on November 18th for this important panel with Indigenous Leaders & Advocates: Theresa Harlan, Kim Shuck, Dean Hoglin, and Sara Moncada. Moderated by David Escobar.
In Marin County, the Indigenous Peoples have always been marginalized—not only in terms of access to resources, but also in presence. This public panel brings together local Indigenous leaders who tirelessly advocate for appropriate recognition, representation, and conservation of Indigenous Peoples’ histories and cultures.
The moderated discussion will feature perspectives on how land acknowledgements should be contextualized: through understanding sacred sites, the land back movement, land trusts and taxes, and food sovereignty.
