NYT bestselling author, educator, and activist reads from her new middle-grade book

The Marin City Library is proud to welcome New York Times bestselling author, educator, and activist Renée Watson.

Her novel, Piecing Me Together, received a Newbery Honor and Coretta Scott King Award. Her books include Some Places More Than Others; This Side of Home; What Momma Left Me; Betty Before X, cowritten with Ilyasah Shabazz; and Watch Us Rise, cowritten with Ellen Hagan, as well as two highly acclaimed picture books: A Place Where Hurricanes Happen and Harlem’s Little Blackbird, which was nominated for an NAACP Image Award.

Renée will be reading from her new middle-grade book, Ways to Make Sunshine, the first in the Ryan Hart series. Meet plucky fourth-grader Ryan Hart and see how she navigates the ups and downs of moving to a new neighborhood, starting at a new school, and dealing with her annoying older brother. No matter what, Ryan always finds ways to make sunshine.
