The actor/author/filmmaker reads from his first poetry collection, written over several decades
Peter Coyote’s poems take us on a whirlwind tour of an eclectic and exciting life as an actor and Zen Buddhist priest, meandering from love affairs to marriage to divorce to the Sixties to psychedelic spirituality and beyond.
Written over several decades, they read as a collage, each piece distinct and contributing to a cohesive lyric narrative.
An accomplished actor in more than 130 films, Peter Coyote is also an author, director, screenwriter, and narrator. Perhaps best known for his deep, mellifluous voice, he won an Emmy award for his narration of the ten-part PBS series The Pacific Century. He also narrated eight Ken Burns documentaries, including The Roosevelts for which he won a second Emmy. He has written two best-selling memoirs, Sleeping Where I Fall and The Rainman’s Third Cure, and contributed to many other books and publications. Coyote is a politically engaged individual who champions a multitude of causes. He is also a Zen Buddhist priest as well as a songwriter, guitarist, and singer. This is his first poetry collection. Coyote lives in northern California.
