“Time After Time”, a 50 year retrospective survey of work by the Bay Area painter Pierre Flandreau, draws works from personal and private collections to map an imaginative life in exuberant, strikingly original terms.
Carefully observed early portraits and still life give way to series of works that wrestle with the events and issues of our time.
Flandreau’s vigorous, urgent pursuits are drawn in dramatic compositions of singular immediacy, packed with the wit and wisdom of a mind rich with references to history and life.
This exhibit of paintings, shown with works on paper and bronze sculpture, is a revelation of the most creative kind.
