Poet Laureate of Connecticut joins a local poet in MPC’s poetry reading series
This series provides a unique opportunity to hear diverse and unusual sets of readers, pairing local and out-of-state or out-of-country poets.
Margaret Gibson is the poet laureate of Connecticut. Her lyrical and meditative poems celebrate the “sometimes painful, sometimes joyful experience of unfolding consciousness.” Her books include Signs, Long Walks in the Afternoon, The Vigil (finalist, National Book Award), Earth Elegy: New and Selected Poems, One Body, Second Nature, Broken Cup, and Not Hearing the Wood Thrush.
Lisa Rappoport is a poet and fine letterpress printer based in the Bay Area. Her witty, playful, acerbic poems often explore the complex and conflicting emotions of contemporary life. Her new book, Penumbra, was published by Longship Press.
