String Quartet masterpiece and World Premiere with German operatic bass in former Ansel Adams home
Inspired song cycle performance in Sea Cliff residence offers guests a musically poetic experience
Opportunities to experience up close and personal performances by world renowned musical and vocal talent are rare.
Bay Area nonprofit, Musica Marin, proudly presents such an opportunity with its performance of Felix Mendelssohn’s masterpiece String Quartet in A Minor and World Premiere Song Cycle titled “The Hidden Singer” written by Composer-In-Residence, Clint Borzoni, and inspired by the works of poet Wendell Berry (commissioned by Michael Colbruno for voice and string quartet).
Lovers of intimate chamber music will be treated to a magical meeting of talents with the joining together of Musica Marin’s Composer-in-Residence, Clint Borzoni and special guest German Operatic Bass, Malte Roesner in the Sea Cliff residence and former home of Ansel Adams.
“Artistic expression can be emotionally beguiling, intellectually stimulating or aesthetically pleasing. Only exceptional art has the ability to reach us on all of them simultaneously” states Roesner. “In this song cycle, Clint was able to capture these qualities and feelings, and augment them with his own artistic depth. His composition possesses the same timelessness and captivating visceral quality as the poems.”
Musica Marin performers include violinists Helen Kim and Yuna Lee, cellist Erik Anderson and Bay Area native and The Juilliard School alum, violist Ruth Ellen Kahn.
Following the performance, there will be an insightful Q & A, led by Borzoni, Roesner and Colbruno.
Elegant, seasonal hors d’oeuvres will be served by acclaimed “Best of the Bay” chef, Mark Furr, alongside complementary hand selected wines.
