Songs for Showing Up: A Special Evening in Partnership with SURJ Marin

Come sing in harmony! In partnership with SURJ (Showing Up for Racial Justice) Marin, I’ll be teaching songs at our drop-in Central Marin Singers Choir on Wednesday, November 8 that help us show up as allies and activists in our community.

I’m honored to be working with SURJ Marin, a group of white community members who join with local communities and leaders of color in working against racial disparities in Marin.

All profits from the evening will benefit SingWithMarv community partner Huukuiko and SURJ Marin community partners MC Arts & Culture, Marin County Cooperation Team, and Multicultural Center of Marin.

Led by Marv Zauderer, who teaches easy-to-learn songs in the oral tradition — call-and-response, no need to read music! — this community song circle gives you the opportunity to see (via Zoom) and hear (via free software – Jamulus) everyone in the circle, and gives everyone the opportunity to see and hear you, too — live, without any delay! Feel the joy of singing with others again! It’s the kind of thing that so many of us have missed since the pandemic derailed community singing, right?
