Braulio Barrera & Con Kimba Quintet
Braulio’s passion for percussion instruments, including cajon, claves, bongo, conga and other African drums has taken him from composing jingles for various Peruvian commercials at age 19, to joining the music group and percussion school Acuarela Criolla, inspired by Peruvian cajon experts and touring with the Peruvian singer Cecilia Barraza Ensemble.
Since moving to California in 2000 he has performed with various Peruvian dance companies and multiple salsa bands including Grammy-winning Pacific Mambo Orchestra and contributed to the Motorcycle Diaries soundtrack. This evening Braulio condenses his Somos el Son Orchestra, to bring Con Kimba Quintet to the Garden.
