The Cave Murals of Baja California

A discussion of Native American paintings found in the San Francisco Mountains of Baja

In 1980, College of Marin students and faculty led by Dr. Gordon Chan traveled to Baja, California to do fieldwork on rock art found in caves in the San Francisco Mountains.

Archeologist Teresa Saltzman will present a narrated slide show and expand on the team’s findings. Join us for a 40th anniversary celebration of this expedition, starting at 1:00 pm.  Saltzman will present a companion lecture on “Rock Art in Marin, the Bay Area and Beyond” following at 2:00 pm.

Dr. Chan’s daughter, Dr. Marjorie Chan, will present “Red Rocks from Earth to Mars” at later on the same date at 6:00 pm as part of College of Marin’s daylong celebration of its new STEM Center (Room 129).
