“Visions for Marin: The Legacy of Caroline Sealy Livermore”

BayWood Artists Exhibition & Sale

BayWood Artists will join with the Marin Art & Garden Center to commemorate the life of conservationist Caroline Sealy Livermore. In celebration of her life, the Artists will be painting at many of the locations preserved by Livermore’s work.

In the 1930’s, Livermore brought together groups of Marin County women who shared an interest in their environment. Through their efforts, the Marin Art & Garden Center was created on this uniquely beautiful property.

Livermore had the vision and foresight to initiate the preservation of many other special places in Marin including Samuel P. Taylor State Park, Tomales Bay State Park, Mount Tamalpais, Stinson Beach, Marin Headlands, Angel Island, Lyford Mansion and Richardson Bay Sanctuary, Audubon Canyon Ranch and Point Reyes National Seashore.

In her lifetime she helped found the Marin Conservation League, Marin Audubon Society, Angel Island and Point Reyes National Seashore Associations. Much of the beauty we see every day around us in Marin County is preserved for all time by the work of Caroline Sealy Livermore.

The BayWood Artists will show, and offer for sale, their original works of art at the Studio located in the Marin Art and Garden Center. Half of the proceeds will go to the Center to help fund their ongoing programs. The BayWood Artists group is a unique and diversified combination of professional artists who share a passion for saving and preserving our San Francisco Bay Area environment.

The BayWood Artists are Christin Coy, Laura Culver, Jon Francis, Robert Frank, Sherrill Miller, Zenaida Mott, Lissa Nicolaus, Robert Gantt Steele and guest artists Jean Sanchirico and Elaine West.
