Youth Film Workshop: Change the World One Film at a Time...

This exciting workshop offers young curious artists the opportunity to collaborate and cultivate ideas around the topic of CHANGE through the medium of film.

Taught by talented and established local activist and artist Michaela Leslie-Rule, this 3 day workshop will focus on storyboarding, establishing context, site specific ideas and implementing them through film.

Students (ages 11-18) will learn the basics of filmmaking using iMovie, editing basics and audio while shooting their film scenes locally. The class will produce a short film or films to be shown at the Throckmorton Theatre’s Youth Film Night November 30th.

Space is limited to 15 participants. No previous film experience required.

Michaela Leslie-Rule MPA, MPH is a digital media producer, storyteller and social scientist. In her work she creates creative and interactive experiences that provide platforms for and amplify the most marginalized voices in our communities. She is particularly interested in the use of storytelling to measure and document social change, and has designed and implemented multimedia projects on four continents. Currently Michaela is producing, with composer and ethnomusicologist T.R. Roberts, and musician and performer Ron Ragin, the Spiritual Technologies Project, a multimedia research project that explores the tradition of hymn singing in African-American churches.
