The Golden Gate Marin Artists are a branch of the National League of American Pen Women, a professional group of women Writers, Artists, and Composers organized in 1897 when women were refused admission into the (then) all-male National Press Club in Washington DC. The League has since grown to over 5,000 members within 200 Branches in 32 State Associations that promote all three disciplines and constantly expand their membership.

Golden Gate Marin Artists was organized in 1972. Our branch consists of artist and writers who exhibit locally, some winning national awards. Our media and styles produce interesting and diverse art exhibits throughout Marin, San Francisco, and Sonoma counties. We hold monthly meetings which include art workshops by the individual members, critiques of members’ artwork, networking about exhibit opportunities and ongoing art shows, and visits to Bay Area museums and other places of artistic interest.

We award an annual scholarship to a female high school student who intends to continue her art studies in college. We exhibit and participate in the American Pen Women National Biennial Art Show.
