Originally trained at UC Berkeley as a fine artist under renowned California figure painter Elmer Bischoff, Gordon Bryan decided to take another path. Rather than continuing on to graduate school for painting, he began working with clay. He studied the historic craft of tile making in North America, Mexico, Spain and England. Since founding Blue Slide Art Tile in 1982, he has created a large body of work which continues to reflect his personal interests of painting, carving, architecture and the natural world. The name Blue Slide originated from our first experimental studio in Northern California situated on Blue Slide Creek, forever an inspiration.
