Carol Peek was born in Marin County, California.  The beauty of the local landscape and her mother's passion for art influenced her decision to become an artist.  Her love of horses led her to draw them as well as ride them, spending summers on horseback exploring the scenes she now paints.

Peek began her art education at UC Santa Barbara, moved on to UC Berkeley and from there went to the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California where she graduated with honors in 1987. The following year she moved to Kansas City, MO to work for Hallmark cards for 1 -1/2 years until the lure of her childhood landscape became too strong to ignore.

She returned in 1989 documenting in paint, the quickly disappearing agricultural landscape in Marin and Sonoma counties, focusing on the family farms that once covered the area.

Carol's work has been shown in galleries and museums from San Francisco to New York City for the past 25 years. She is currently enrolled in the MFA program at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, California where she has also taught classes in the undergraduate school. Her work has won numerous awards and publications of her work include:  Antiques Magazine, Art of the West, American Artist, Southwest Art, Western Horseman, Equine Images, The Artist’s Magazine and US Art.  Several books on art, horses, and poetry also feature her paintings.

Carol's work has been represented in New York City, Sun Valley, ID, Carmel, CA, Hilton Head Is, SC, The North Point Gallery, San Francisco, and she is currently showing with Holton Studio and Gallery in Berkeley, CA and Calabi Gallery in Santa Rosa, CA.
