Victoria Mimiaga, a San Francisco Bay Area artist was born and raised in Honolulu. She has a B.S degree from the University of Colorado, and has studied at the Honolulu Academy of Art, the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, and the College of Marin in Kentfield.
A former jewelry designer, Victoria’s pendant’s were featured at Saks Fifth Avenue in San Francisco and Scottsdale Arizona.
Since then Victoria remains committed to oil painting and has exhibited extensively in San Francisco, Marin County and the East Bay. Her series “Food in Plastic” debuted at Cafe Museo in the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. The series chronicles the needless, redundant and amusing plastic receptacles used in food packaging. Victoria continues the plastic dialogue with her latest series, “Masters and Plastic”, where she’s added modern plastic packaging to iconic old master paintings, i.e. Whistler’s Mother holding an Amazon box complete with plastic bubble wrap.
Victoria paints a variety of subject matter, still life, figure and landscapes. Her pet portraits received national attention in an article in Victoria Magazine highlighting the range of her compositions and her ability to capture the pet’s personality.
Victoria is also a teacher, and teaches privately in her studio, as well as extensively through the private and public school system.
In an effort to combine art and philanthropy, Victoria helped design and implement Marin Masters, an art exhibit and benefit at the Outdoor Art Club.
