Karin Urquhart, a resident of Lake Almanor and Fairfax, California, is an award winning artist specializing in oils and watercolors. Her works feature series of paintings depicting local areas as well as other special, stunning places throughout the country.  In the Almanor Basin her art includes paintings and notecards of the lovely old buildings in old town Chester and Quincy and landscapes of spectacular scenery.

Many galleries include her paintings both in Plumas County and the San Francisco Bay Area.  She is also a part of the Lake Almanor Artists Co-op whose works are shown in the Back Room Gallery at Books and Beyond.  Her paintings reside in many private collections here and abroad.

An hiatus from her painting occurred during a distinguished career of public service in the field of environmental conservation for which she has received many honors including induction into the Marin Women's Hall of Fame, the American Association of University Women's "Woman of Achievement Award" and inclusion in the Marquis "Who's Who in America" and "Who's Who in American Women" since the year 2000.

Now retired, Karin has returned to a lifelong love of painting.  She especially enjoys painting scenery in and around the Almanor Basin, an area which she and her family have been enjoying since the mid 70's.

In her business, Expressions by Karin, her note cards and Giclee prints of original oils and watercolors are enjoying widespread popularity locally and elsewhere in the United States.
