What better way to spin positive on one of America’s most immensely pivotal evenings? Marin Poetry Center, Falkirk Cultural Center, and Marin Poet Laureate Prartho Sereno, invite you to celebrate youth & arts! The January 20th Gala will include performances by San Marin’s Jazz Ensemble Chorus, soulful rap/spoken word artists Amani Williams (aka Lion Truth, Midwife of the Creative Liberation Network) and Jahan Khalighi (poet-activist with passionate, earthy, deep Rumi soul), and featured high school poets from the upstairs exhibits.
The 2nd Annual Arts Mashup exchange program paired local high school students throughout the county to converse anonymously through poetry and visual art. The results are an uplifting surprise to all, especially the artists themselves, who only see the artistic responses to their work on opening night! During the gala, the second floor Falkirk Galleries will be on view, continuing through February 2017. The galleries are free and open to the public.
