Learn single-signature and accordion-fold bookbinding
Bookbinding workshop with Derek Bacchus
The single-signature book (pamphlet) is the most basic of book forms, and an introduction to many of the processes of bookbinding. Combined with the accordion-fold book, there are many creative ways to make these simple books a personal expression of your artistic or literary desires.
We will begin with bookbinding basics to familiarize yourself, and for your future independent work: tools, text and cover papers, paper grain, folding, deckled edges, needles, and threads. You will end up with your own small books, and instructions, so you can scale up in many different ways — size, complexity, inventiveness of materials selection and finishing techniques.
Beginners expected!
