Performing Poetry with Authentic Voice

Performing Poetry with Authentic Voice

at College of Marin

How do readers recognize tones in poems and recognize meanings of dense metaphors and complex emotions? In this fun experiential workshop, we’ll examine distinct performance poetry styles and how to express both ideas and emotions using simple vocal techniques.

Instructor Claire Blotter has taught performance and poetry at SF State University, Dominican University, and John F. Kennedy University. She represented San Francisco at National Poetry Slams in Boston and Chicago, and currently teaches and coached poetry performance in the Poetry Out Loud Program at five Marin high schools.
