All-Mozart concert featuring sacred choral works from his late Salzburg period
James Dunn Theatre, College of Marin
The 110-voice Marin Oratorio presents an all-Mozart concert, featuring sacred choral works from his late Salzburg period.
This was when Mozart changed the face of church music with his full color brass sound: horns, trumpets, and three trombones!
The featured work, the Great Mass in C minor, K. 427, is the most expansive and varied of all of his liturgical settings.
The program opens with the sprightly Te Deum, K. 141 for strings and chorus, and the timeless Ave Verum Corpus, K. 618.
Mozart's choral favorite Vesperae Solennes de Confessore (Solemn Vespers), K. 165 rounds out this memorable evening.
