  5 |  Jennifer Lee and the Ever-Expanding Universe - Jennifer Lee (vocals and guitar), Adam Shulman (keys), Lorca Hart (drums) and Doug Pohorski (bass) - An artist long known as a gifted interpreter of the American and Brazilian Songbooks, Jennifer Lee has now also emerged as a songwriter with an unusual gift for evoking uncanny experiences, hard-won wisdom and unbridled joy.

12 |  Pamela Rose & Hammond Organ Party - Pamela Rose - vocals, Wayne De La Cruz - B3 Organ, Mark Lee - drums, Jeff Massanari - Guitar. San Francisco Bay Area fans know that Rose’s enduring passion for the swinging and soulful sounds of the Hammond B-3 organ have often paired her with jazz B-3 master Wayne De La Cruz at local clubs and festivals. Loose and limber, moving and grooving, this group feels like a Saturday night celebration, with Rose and her top-shelf musicians romping through rare jazz standards, blues and R&B classics.

19 |  Susan Sutton Trio - Susan Sutton, piano, Piro Patton, bass — Kendrick Freeman, drums. The Susan Sutton Trio is a marvel of melodic invention and subtle interplay in the classic piano trio format, with the added feature of Ms. Sutton’s swinging vocals. Performing the standard jazz repertoire along with original compositions by Sutton and  those of the  famed pianist and composer Bryce Rohdes, the trio provides great textural and dynamic variety and is always highly listenable.

26 |  Five Play Jazz - Laura Klein - piano, Tony Corman, guitar, Dave Tidball, woodwinds, Paul Smith, bass, Greg German, drums. Co-led by husband and wife team Laura Klein and Tony Corman, the members of Five Play are long time musical associates that shift between straight ahead bebop to post modern. The resulting on stage alchemy generates adventurous and exciting performances. They perform original tunes that sound as if they are out of the  great American Song Book.

AUGUST:

  2 |  Sanford Barnett Quartet - Bay Area Jazz Guitarist pays Tribute to the Post Bop Artists of the Mid-Sixties. Guitarist, Sanford Barnett has assembled a high caliber Quartet featuring Max Perkoff-Trombone, Chris Amburger-Upright Bass, and Spike Klein-Drums. The band will feature the music of Wayne Shorter, Joe Henderson, Woody Shaw and others from the Post-Bop era.

  9 |  Masha Campagne Group - Masha Campagne Group is coming back to this long-running Music Series in Larkspur with her superlative group bringing you her passionate tributes to Brazilian & Jazz greats as well as her stunning originals. Her music is brimming with Latin flavors, sensuality, rich quiet fire and deep soul and effectively conveys the organic blend of happiness and intimacy that defines Brazilian music.

16 |  Paul McCandless/Christian Foley-Beining Collaboration - This stellar quartet features Grammy winner Paul McCandless on saxophone and bass clarinet and renowned guitarist Christian Foley-Beining playing acoustic and electric guitar, with Tom Shader on bass and Tom Hayashi on drums. They will be playing original compositions by Paul and Christian. Enjoy this exciting collaboration of gifted jazz musicians.

23 |  Jeff Denson Quartet - Jeff Denson – bass & vocals, Lyle Link – tenor & soprano saxophones, Dave MacNab – guitar, Hamir Atwal – drums. Jeff Denson’s music pushes through the boundaries of musical genres. By inventively mixing the world of composed and improvised, instrumental and vocal music, Jeff Denson creates a unique language of his own, where intoxicating melodies and rhythms transport the listener away to unknown lands where vivid hues of tone paint the aural canvas of the inner ear. 

30 |  Joshua Smith Quartet - The Joshua Smith Quartet features an outstanding lineup of some of the Bay Area‘s finest straightahead jazz players. Their repertoire is comprised of jazz standards and music from the great American songbook, performed with a drive and spirit that sets this group apart. Their inventive solos and and interpretations of classic jazz standards carries on the tradition of the genre, always seeking and exploring, and finding new approaches to the music.
