Description:
This hands-on workshop will introduce participants to making monoprints using a Gelli plate and Speedball water-soluble block inks. The Gelli printing plate is made of a gel-like substance with a sensitive surface that invites endless experimentation and reuse. The Gelli plate is perfect for use with brayers, brushes, stencils, and found flat objects. The Speedball inks easily allow for layering, lifting, drawing, and other post-printing embellishments. Prints are hand pulled without the need of a press.

All materials will be provided, including paper, Speedball water-soluble block inks, brayers, and a 5x7 inch Gelli plate for each participant. As part of the materials fee, participants keep the reusable Gelli plate for use after the workshop.
No previous printing or painting experience is required to have fun with the Gelli plate!
If you happen to have previous printing or painting experience and want to bring some of your own tools such as small brayers and brushes, you are encouraged to do so. All participants are encouraged to bring a variety of flat (no thicker than 1/16th of an inch) textured objects with them such as dried leaves, grasses, string, stencils, textured paper, etc. We will also have other flat materials on hand.
