Artist Roundtable Dialogue:

Exhibition dates: September 27 – October 25
"From Dusk ‘til Dawn” - The time from Sunset to Sunrise begins and ends with a transition of light … and reveals the nightscapes, with lights both naturally occurring (celestial, fire, phosphorescence) as well as human made (electric, neon, LED).
How do artists visually describe the dark of night? They may perhaps use greys and midnight blues leading into amber and burnt orange … or other evocative color combinations.
This exhibition shows how artists reveal the feeling and moods of this in-between time … when mystery and wonder hide in the shadows.
Juror: David Harris
While David Harris is most widely known for his illustrious career as a writer, journalist and political advocate, he has been creating his own artwork for fifty years. He has written extensively for the New York Times, Rolling Stone, and other periodicals, as well as authoring seven major nonfiction books on diverse subjects.
Of his recent exhibit at Throckmorton Theatre’s Crescendo Gallery, spanning fifty years’ worth of artwork, he says he has been “painting for the love of creating form from blank surfaces, addressing only an audience of one, satisfying my eye alone, thrilled at the outcome for its own sake. All of these pictures have been generated by my imagination, recreating an image that has suddenly appeared in my mind’s eye rather than reflecting the ‘reality’ around us—portraits of an emotional rather than a physical truth.”
