Alex Nizovsky Artist Statement

I’m an artist, designer, and biologist who is focused on the stunning variety and beauty of living organisms. My art expresses my passionate engagement with the beautiful creatures of life and aims to explore the natural aesthetics of biological objects. I possess an eye for their colors, shapes, patterns, and textures. My art projects are devoted to creation of the fantastic worlds of surrealistic creatures which are all based on organic forms of life.

As an artist I strive to show the hidden beauty of living organisms to viewers. Many individuals often experience fear or disgust while observing “something that looks like a bug”, or less interest in such small and mysterious creatures. I utilize my large-scale depictions of life forms to help people overcome their resistance to them and recognize their magnificence. I employ archetypes and symbols from different cultures to emphasize various aspects of the great diversity of biological forms. I hope that my vision will inspire people to explore the beauty of life on Earth and to protect their natural habitats.
