Rodents of Unusual Size

Rodents of Unusual Size

Presented by California Film Institute at Christopher B. Smith Rafael Film Center

After decades of hurricanes and oil spills, Louisiana fishermen are now confronted with hordes of 20-pound swamp rats known as “nutria.”

These invasive South American rodents breed faster than roving squads of hunters can control them, and with their orange teeth and voracious appetite, they are eating up the coastal wetlands that help protect communities from hurricanes.

But a lively pack of bounty hunters are hellbent on saving Louisiana from these environmental terrors. It’s man vs. rodent, and may the best mammal win!
