Tom Tabakin artist statement:

The last three years, I have started doing more paintings and drawings.  This show represents those efforts.

Partially inspired by space limitations paper has become my new friend. (It stores flat!)  Also, I experienced a situation with my eyes that made me realize that vision is a gift that may be transient.

So, while I can I hope to make the best use of my time. I have come to realize that the things I create are based solely on my taste, which in turn is based on my own personal make up, i.e. eye color, hair color and skin color.  Warm, earthy deep colors, with an occasional explosion of color.

The colors that work for me communicate who I am and how I see the world.  In the place where those colors and shapes harmonize is where I can relax and feel at home.
