On Friday, March 10, at the Opening Reception, the public will have the opportunity to take an Art Walk through the night heavens of an iconic Pt Reyes photographer’s black and white creations. Marty Knapp, has mastered shooting the night sky over the landscapes of West Marin, the California Sierra, and the Mojave Desert in Joshua Tree National Park. His “Night Sky Collection” photographs were recently created and will be featured at Crome Architecture Studio Gallery at 905 4th Street in San Rafael. His clear night sky works brightly glow with constellations, galactic dust, and and abundance of stars. These images tap into the observer’s universal feelings of wonder at what’s up above, and how can we access it for ourselves. Composer/instrumentalist Joyce Kouffman will perform music on the electric cello inspired by Knapp’s star photographs.
During the Reception, Mr. Knapp and his associates will be conducting an In-Studio Tour of the works, discussing his locations, inspirations and techniques for night sky shooting. The Reception will begin at 5:00 pm, with the Artist’s Talk at 6:00 and Tours from 6:30 to 7:00. Parking is available directly behind the Studio on Lootens Place.
