Join the City of Novato and community partners Sustainable Novato, Novato Streetscape, and California Urban Forests Council for a special free screening of the documentary ‘Made in the Shade’
Made in the Shade chronicles Sacramento’s path to becoming the City of Trees, while also highlighting the many environmental, social, and economic benefits of urban trees.
Director Phil D’Asaro and Executive Producer Bruce Handley spent two-and-a-half years studying the city’s urban tree canopy, examining how Sacramento evolved from treeless farmland to possessing the largest tree canopy in the U.S. and the third largest worldwide, after Vancouver and Singapore.
A panel discussion with Joni Ramirez (Production Manager), Bruce Handley (Executive Producer), Ray Tretheway (Executive Director Sacramento Tree Foundation), and Nancy Hughes (Executive Director, California Urban Forests Council) will follow the screening.
All attendees will be eligible to win one of ten trees to be raffled at the event!
The event is FREE to attend and doors open at 6pm. The screening will start at 6:30.
