Bass-Bassoon Extravaganza feat. Michael Manring & OoN

Presented by Fenix at Fenix

Celebrate the low end in its highest forms with the Bass-Bassoon Extravaganza featuring Michael Manring and OoN—the bass-bassoon duo of Ariane Cap and Paul Hanson.

Hailed by many as the world’s leading solo bassist, Michael Manring has been pushing back the boundaries of what’s possible on bass guitar for over three decades. While his technical skill and innovation always make an impression, it’s his ability to communicate on a profound emotional level that touches listeners most.

In his solo concerts, Michael weaves together his musical influences into a tapestry that’s rich with expression, virtuosity, humor, and meaning. Michael Manring has garnered two gold records, GRAMMY® and Bammy nominations, a Berklee School of Music distinguished alumni award, two “Just Plain Folk” awards, and numerous more. As LP Carson of The Napa Register puts it: “Michael Manring can do more with a bass than even the most creative individual could imagine!”

OoN, with its unlikely combination of bass and bassoon, creates beautiful melodic, grooving Chamber Jazz. Paul Hanson has had a stellar career as an innovative Jazz bassoonist for over twenty years. His credits include Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Wayne Shorter, Ray Charles, and many others. Ariane Cap is a sought-after bassist, educator, and author. She’s performed with Muriel Anderson, The Sippy Cups, Carlos Reyes, Generation Esmeralda, Tempest, and is the bestselling author of Music Theory for the Bass Player.
